"Selecting Your Identification Type Based on Nationality"

"When setting up your profile, the identification information you provide depends on whether you are a South African national or a foreign national ."

Updated

When setting up your profile, the identification information you provide depends on whether you are a South African national or a foreign national.

For South African Nationals

  • You are required to select SA ID as your identification type and then enter your South African ID number.

  • Udok automatically validates your ID number to ensure it is legitimate.

  • From your ID number, the system automatically extracts and populates:

    • Date of Birth
    • Gender
  • Because of this, you will not be able to manually add your date of birth or gender, as it will be pre-populated for you.

  • It is important to ensure that you have captured your ID correctly otherwise it will not be verified.

For Foreign Nationals

If you are not a South African national, you'll need to follow a different process:

  1. Select your Passport as your ID Type.
  2. Select your nationality from the nationality drop-down.
  3. Enter your passport number.
  4. Manually add your date of birth and gender.

Key Notes

  • South Africans: Enter ID number only - date of birth and gender are derived automatically.
  • Foreign nationals: Provide nationality, passport number, date of birth, and gender manually.
